What It Is
Every weekend has its own personality. Fright Nights is a month of free Halloween events in Myrtle Beach, running Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from October 2 through November 1 at Plyler Park. Fridays bring live bands and roaming performers. Saturdays put a stage show front and center. Sundays are for the kids, and they involve a great deal of green foam.
It all wraps on November 1 with a Day of the Dead celebration. Everything is free, everything is outdoors, and none of it is designed to scare anybody.
The park opens at 5 with strolling Halloween characters roaming until 8. Fire performances start at 6, and the band plays 6 to 8 alongside them.
Come at 5 for the roaming performers and photos with the characters. Come at 6 if you’re here for the music.
Saturdays are the stage nights โ one headline show per week, built for kids and genuinely fun to watch as an adult. Halloween itself lands on a Saturday this year, and it gets the full carnival treatment.
A plaza full of green foam, four Sundays running. Exactly as messy as it sounds and exactly as fun. Note the earlier start โ Sundays run in the afternoon, not the evening.
Dress for it. Bring a change of clothes and a towel. Kids will get soaked, and a fair number of adults do too.
Fright Nights closes with Dรญa de los Muertos โ the tradition of honouring loved ones who’ve passed, celebrated with colour, music and memory rather than mourning. The afternoon includes games, costumed characters, face painting and balloons.
